OUR STORY

​Founded by Hayley Chambers, Outback Instincts Ltd was born from a deep belief in the
power of animals, land, and community to heal and transform lives. With over 25 years of
experience in the animal and equine-assisted therapy and education sector, Hayley
established Outback Instincts to fill a critical gap in regional Queensland: the need for
programs that re-engage at-risk and disadvantaged young people through practical,
land-based learning and inclusive support.

Located on a 103-acre property just outside Toowoomba, our programs are grounded in a
belief that young people thrive when given the space to connect with nature, build practical
skills, and experience genuine belonging. Drawing inspiration from models like BackTrack
Youth Works in NSW, Hayley and the team are creating real pathways to hope, purpose, and
community for rural youth in need.

We are proud to collaborate with other organizations, businesses, and training providers to
deliver extended opportunities in manual trades, hospitality, music, creative arts, and other
vocational skill areas that complement our land-based learning model.
